Virtual Summer Enrichment Activities

These activities provide parents and students with a variety of virtual opportunities to enhance learning throughout the summer. Each day has a different learning focus and will encourage creativity and critical thinking.

Monday, July 27 - Visual/Performing Arts

Elementary Activity

  • Discover, listen, play and perform music. - 

Secondary Activity

  • A concert by Wynton Marsalis-trumpet Player (Jazz)  

 

Tuesday, July 28 - Science/Social Studies

Elementary Activity

  • Learn more about the American Toad.  Watch the video and complete the activity as guided.  Then draw the life cycle of the American Toad.

Wednesday, July 29 - Healthy Habits

Elementary Activity

  • Play a simple game of catch. Use any type of ball, rolled up socks, or water balloons.

Secondary Activity

  • Make up a dance routine to your favorite song!

 

Thursday, July 30 - Work/Life Skills/WBL

Elementary Activity

  • Watch and talk about #Adaptability #Resilience #Advocacy

Secondary Activity

  • Learn how to sew a button or other sewing tasks. #Resilence, #Critical Thinking

 

Friday, July 31 - Literacy

Elementary Activity

  • Read the book and go on a virtual shopping trip!

Secondary Activity

  • Prove the Pythagorean Theorem for yourself!  Print out this sheet and follow the directions -

 

Monday, August 3 - Visual/Performing Arts

Elementary Activity

  • The New Victory Theatre provides weekly themed lessons for learning so many art forms! Clowning? Juggling? Songwriting? Magic?

Secondary Activity

  • WATCH:  -- What other musicals have you seen? In your opinion, does music help tell a story? Explain.

 

Tuesday, August 4 - Science/Social Studies

Elementary Activity

  • Want to explore space?  Either take a trip to Mars or go outside tonight and view the night sky.    

Secondary Activity

  • Take a tour of Ellis Island,  Write about your experience.  What do you think it might have been like to be an immigrant coming to Ellis Island?     

 

Wednesday, August 5 - Healthy Habits

Elementary Activity

  • Go for a walk together!

Secondary Activity

  • Be positive and make someone’s day!

 

Thursday, August 6 - Work/Life Skills/WBL

Elementary Activity

  • Create a vision board for your upcoming school year to include your goals. #Resilence, #Advocacy

Secondary Activity

  • Exercise your critical thinking with . #Critical Thinking

 

Friday, August 7 - Literacy

Elementary Activity

  • Schedules can help us stay organized!  Make a schedule for your day.  Include times for each part of your day and list how long each activity will take.

    Secondary Activity

  • Research your chosen career(s) and what math skills are used.  Are you taking the right courses to reach your goal?  This is one site that might help:  Discuss what you find with your family.
